Initial Photography is the brain child of Andrew Gorohoff and James Goldsmith. With the ever growing collection of pictures of Andrew’s daughter Siena (and now Nadia), and James’s daughter Sydney, there was a growing need to provide a way for their respective families to easily get prints. The solution was Smugmug, unlimited space for the pictures and the highest quality professional prints. However, it wasn’t long before Andrew and James’ wives saw that the Initial Photography web site might also help start paying for their increasingly costly photography hobby by selling some of their art prints.

Both Andrew and James are photographers and they both shoot Nikon Digital SLR cameras; James uses a Nikon D300, Andrew uses a Nikon D200. The majority of their photography is done in the Pacific Northwest in and around Seattle and the surrounding National Parks (Mount Rainier, Olympic National Park, and North Cascades National Park).
